On Thursday 28th September MPA proudly hosted our second Macmillan Coffee Morning. The nationwide event began in 1990 and raises millions of pounds each year for Macmillan Cancer Support. The charity provides medical, emotional, practical and financial support for the 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer, as well as their friends and family. The positive impact that Macmillan has is so important, and with first-hand experience within MPA of the great work they do, we were all motivated to raise as much money as possible.
The morning was organised by our Client Services Executive, Samantha Rutt. When asked for her reason behind organising the morning, Sam said,
“The Macmillan coffee morning is a fun way to bring our company together and support a cause close to our hearts”.Samantha Rutt, Client Services Executive
A variety of activities were organised including a bake-off, bingo, a guess the height competition and a bake sale.
The stakes were high in the bake-off, with contestants hoping to unseat last year’s winner, Sharron Wright, as champion. The competition was intense as every contestant brought something different to the table, presenting the judges with a difficult decision.
Eventually, after a long period of deliberation from the judges, one cake in particular stood out, and a new champion was crowned. Laura Simkauskaite came out on top with her beautifully made vanilla sponge with amaretto flavoured buttercream and sweet surprise, wowing the judges. Well done to Laura and everyone who contributed to the event.
We are proud to say that the event raised £317.65, beating last year’s total of £217.65.
