Since 2012, MPA has been fortunate enough to be able to make a positive contribution to the local area surrounding our office in Sherington. A few years ago our director, Mike Price, was approached by the Friends of Cobbs Garden Surgery group to help support the local doctor’s service.
Cobbs garden surgery, as it is known, is one of the many NHS funded facilities which is seeing their funding reduced by the government on a regular basis. A great shame considering all of the positive work that the surgery does with over 8,500 patients depending on their services every year. Positive work that was reflected in a 2016 GP patient survey where the surgery came out on top as the best surgery in the Milton Keynes area, beating 26 others with 93% patient recommendation.
As a proud resident of the local area with his family, Mike saw it as a way to give back to the community he enjoys being a part of. And so, after being contacted he willingly agreed to help the surgery with funding.
Having lived in the area for a number of years, I have seen the influence that Cobbs has on the community. When I was approached by Friends of Cobbs Garden Surgery to donate, I felt it was a great way for me to show my support for the surgery’s work. As it happens the work they do is now affecting me personally, and I have been fortunate enough to see first-hand the positive impact they make on people’s lives, with my grandmother being supported by Sue Levitt’s tremendous work.Mike Price, MPA Director
What is the donation used for?
The donations MPA make are able to fund the work of local healthcare professional, Sue Levitt, who provides a vital service many of the older residents in the Olney area.
Her day to day work varies, from coordinating patient’s everyday medical needs, to organising household tasks or just being someone to go in and have a cup of tea and a chat with. The work Sue does is important and to some of her patients it is the best part of their day. It’s a vital way for them to feel part of the outside world, with Sue becoming just as much of a friend as well as a healthcare provider.
With extra money from our donations we were also able to help out with the recent development at Cobbs of an external building, alongside a generous local supporter. The new building will allow patients to have confidential space to speak to doctors. This has been very positive for the surgery, allowing them to have another room in the main building with which to provide treatments to their patients. It has also provided a space for Sue and other members of the team to organise their day to day activities.

Continuing to help
MPA would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Cobbs Garden Surgery and Sue Levitt on all of the great work they are providing the local community. And promise to continue providing whatever support we can into the foreseeable future. We urge other businesses and local people to do similar and help by donating.
